Fresh Start Kidz is committed to provide youth with the educational tools they need to live healthier, more balanced lifestyles. By working in collaboration with the community, FSK, Inc. provides services that result in measurable improvements for the children being served.

What We Do and Why

Today, access to healthy, quality fresh food is more of a luxury than necessity. According to research conducted by the USDA,

“Approximately 1 in 7 children live with food insecurity, 12.8% of the U.S population live in low income and low-access areas, People living in the poorest SES (social-economic status) areas have 2.5 times the exposure to fast-food restaurants as those living in the wealthiest areas and Food insecurity has a high correlation with increased diabetes rates and, the death rate from diabetes in a food desert is twice that of areas with access to grocery stores.”

Considering how unfair these statistics are, Our founder wanted to do something about it and sought out to make a difference in the food deserted areas across the US, starting with the MidSouth.According to Dr. David E. Barrett, a psychologist at Harvard Medical School, ''...Our research indicates that malnutrition in early life may result in reduced social responsiveness, a lack of interest in the environment and inadequate emotional development by school age.''

Therefore, Fresh Start Kidz strives to help educate children, their parents and community at large on what it means to leave and lead healthy, well nourished lives that will promote their overall mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health by conducting summer and afterschool programs that teaches them how to source, prepare and access healthy food.
